So here we are, 2 days away from welcoming little Kali into our lives forever! I am not going to lie, I am nervous, scared, and anxious all at once right now. I know our lives are going to change forever after Monday. For over 8 years straight, it has been about Tyson and I and definitely for the past 4 years of marriage! We have enjoyed our time together and taken many FUN vacations every year, hopefully we will continue to do the things we have always done, but now include Kali in them!
So this makes me think back to Bryce and Sarah Keast's wedding (Tyson's brother). It was almost 2 years ago (in September) and we were driving from Colorado to Oklahoma for the big day. Not sure how it even was brought up, but the topic of kids came up. I remember thinking, "Do I even want kids?" In reality, I was serious. I guess in the back of my head I thought it was a death sentence to no more fun! After talking over an hour about children and our thoughts on the subject, I told Tyson I wasn't ready by any means and that when the time was right, we would both just know it.
We decided to start trying in late 2009 and have a baby in 2010. In fact, we even told our parents this so they would stop asking us when we were going to have children :) And it was really what we wanted! However, something changed when we attended a K-State game in Colorado (Oct. 2008). And NO, this is not the date we conceived! ha! But the topic of children came up again and I told Tyson, "I think I am ready when you are..." Needless to say, I may have been the one "holding up the plans". I think my fear of failing as a mother was standing in my way, but Tyson was ready. He wanted children, but only when I was 100% ready. So we decided to start a family, but not tell anyone we were trying because we did not want to disappoint anyone in case it didn't happen right away.
I found out that I was pregnant on December 21, 2008...right in time for a wonderful Christmas present for all our parents! What a blessing it was to find out the news and to tell everyone the good news!
Seems like this was so long ago, but here we are....2 days away from our little miracle, and neither of us could be ANY happier! God has TRULY blessed us and I know he will bless Kali with so much support and love from everyone. We can't wait to share our little girl with all of you!
